Voices From The Young People
Summer Youth Workshop
Civil Rights and Social Justice: Voices of The Young People
This program is designed for people interested in learning about the contributions and sacrifices made by people who were dedicated to making change during the Civil Rights Movement.
Participants in this intensive workshop will be guided through four areas of development:
Each area will feature interactive engagement via lectures, oral history panels, artistic activities, individual and group workshops.
The workshop will feature field trips to civil rights landmarks in Jackson, MS; The Mississippi Delta; and other significant places. Students will also be encouraged to participate in a service learning project. Other benefits of the workshop include:
If you have a child or know a child in middle school or high school (7th – 12th graders), we are hoping that you will encourage him/her to apply for the workshop because we believe it is an outstanding way for them to advance socially and educationally.
