Laughter: Food For the Soul
Did you know, that according the Journal of the American Art Therapy Association, less than an hour of creative activity can reduce your stress and have a positive effect on your mental health, regardless of artistic experience or talent?
Did you know that laughter is one of the best emotional and physical therapies for anyone under stress?
Join us Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the K D Mack Foundations’ Laughter: Food for the Soul.
This evening of great food and jokes will be coupled with an art exhibit featuring Lee Payton.
Laughing releases endorphins into the brain. Endorphins are like the nerve-numbing drug morphine and serve to reduce harmful chemicals in the body that are released by stress. As you know first-hand, one of the best ways to increase comfort in negative situations is to break the ice with laughter. When we think of caring for our health, we tend to only think about the quality of our diets and whether or not we exercise, but those are not the only things that are good for you!
The act of laughing can cause beneficial physical changes to your body. In addition to relieving stress, laughter gives you a renewed boost of energy and relieves minor pains.
Releasing stress also immediately puts you in a better mood and improves your attitude so you can feel ready to tackle tough situations. Join us for Laughter Is good for the Soul and improve your mental health.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Mike Town Comedy Club, 4101 Northview Drive, Jackson, MS 39206.
A portion of proceeds will benefit the K D Mack Foundation, a 501 (c)3 corporation dedicated to improving quality of life by increasing the awareness of the impact of dementia and schizophrenia in local communities while also providing workforce and entrepreneurship development skills that will aide in creating income, opportunity, and economic growth.
